PATH TO FREEDOM

"THE ORIGINAL MODERN URBAN HOMESTEAD
pioneering a journey towards self sufficiency, one step at a time."

"Path to Freedom is a grassroots, family operated, original urban homestead located in the midst of Pasadena.

Surrounded by urban sprawl and just a short distance from a freeway, the Dervaes Family have steadily worked at transforming this ordinary city lot into an organic and sustainable micro-farm."

I remember this story!. In fact after that several people have followed in those footsteps... In L.A. and S.Monica, there are more communities raising veggies in abandoned land or even parkways- Venice has them.. One man has lost his job and has started his own victory garden and peddles his microgreens to upscale restaurants...

Of course, living in California does skew the chances a bit. That climate is most forgiving except for the need for water sometimes.
