Hundred-dollar melons and other crazy prices
have always been a Japan thing, to the point of cliche,
but this is getting out of hand. A hundred dollars for 4 grapes?

Or maybe you'd prefer some Beef Tongue ice cream?

Well, the grapes were fairly large--the size of a ping-pong ball, according to the article. Maybe if they breed them a little bigger and hold the price constant, it will look a little less crazy. I could almost see paying $25 for a _really_ good watermelon, for example, so a grape that size might be acceptable.
