EARTHQUAKE UPDATES Day 2

8:06am - Thanks and hugs to all who sent messages in all those ways... No more word from Kasumi and family yet, likely no electricity up there in Ibaraki for quite a while, no charging phones, no anything we're all used to... I trust they're well for now in the school gym-- safe, fed, warm and relatively rested... but  the news about those reactors is not good, in fact is getting worse... wonder if those experts have a really safe backup for their formerly safe backup (170,000 to be evacuated from the vicinity so far)...  no point in trying to drive up there, wouldn't even get close and would likely get in the way even if there were roads that went there... the silence is not welcome, though... will post here anything I hear... All night I kept thinking of them, snuggled together in the dark gym, and of Tatsuya leaving his office (right on the ocean in the tsunami area!) immediately after the quake and walking for 7 hours to get home to his family, walking all the way south along the coast during the tsunami, half of the walk in the electricless dark, through the same landscape the whole world has been seeing on the news, arriving 10:30 at night... I didn't sleep much, being more there than here... our hearts to you all, for your love and prayers...

Much love and positive thoughts being sent...the news is sharing the devastating facts, images and destruction - and your updates depict the strength, courage, and love of your family. Thank you.

Relieved that your mountain is intact . . . ; pleased that you are able to post and are doing so; hoping and looking forward to news that the kids and grandkids are well and away from danger.

Sending positive energy, as above, and prayers.

Joining you in trusting Kasumi and family are "safe, fed and warm in the school gym."

Our world seems so much smaller when disaster strikes those in our blog universe.

Love and prayers to all.

I am with you ~ with Kasumi and T and the three girls, wrapping them with my hope that they are safe, warm, and fed. That they are not frightened (I get the feeling that the girls are finding a way to giggle through it!) Praying that things will settle and begin to heal soon.

I too am holding you all in my heart, visualizing them snuggled together, exhausted but safe and well. Tatsuya's tale will be legend....walking 7 hours, risking the tsunami, to reach his family. A good man.

Praying you all are together soon. I look forward to the good news.

And how is Echo holding up through this? IT must be terribly hard to not be able to drive up there and get them. I hope you are awakened by a pounding on your door tonight, and it is them coming home for safety! That has to be just horrible living so close to those reactors. Thank Goodness everyone in your family is safe! Is your son still over here?

This may be unreliable, but read that aid is bringing in back up generators. If they can get power back to the plants, they can cool them down.

Containment part is intact. Stay safe. Our thoughts are with you.

Oh god, 7 hours through that? I wouldn't be able to sleep either. Glad he's safe, glad they're all safe for now.
