I always wanted to see how Kerouac actually 'handled' his words when spoken, to see what kind of a reader he was, what kind of a wordvoice, since he read his work aloud so rarely in public. He sure didn't disappoint; he knew those words in his soul. Kudos to Steve Allen, for enabling such a thing to happen on tv back in those uptight days.
Born and raised in upstate New York, traveled for a decade after college, lived in various places around the world, keeping a journal. Settled in Kyoto in 1980, moved to this mountainside above Lake Biwa in 1995. Started Pure Land Mountain in April 2002.

Wonderful - thanks for posting this. I truly enjoyed it.
Glad to hear it, Suzann; I'd heard about that occasion, and had always wanted to see it... had to pass it along, of course.
I enjoyed this. Straightway I sent it to my mother and father, who may remember the scene.
