HOUSEHUSBANDING

Found out too late
where everything was...
Everything.

Found out too late
when and where it all
happened.
Exactly.

Learned too late
what the kids hate;
learned not to ask
what they wanted.

Fingered
all the weaponish things;
looked long, long
long
at every ceiling.

Shrinking toward nightfall
fell thankful into bed thinking
at least tomorrow will be better;
night after night
after night--
found out right where Mama
has always hidden the scream.

[Blast from the past
out of Bridge of Dreams,
sold out but a few still available;
amazing how well it's rated,
after all these years...]

I did not know, but should have guessed, that you had authored a published book. I am still wrestling with the hidden imagery and meanings intended, trying to decipher the feelings behind the pen. I find it dark and foreboding.

I found a used 500 yen copy in Kyoto. Thanks for helping me forget a dreary rainy season day...
