I let my summer wild cottage garden die back on its own accord, thinking I would start cleaning it up this spring, and to see what happens when the plants are left to do their own thing. I am shocked to discover that the lavendar simply continued on without behaving as if any seasonal changes had taken place, no ice, no snow, no sun. There it is, the lavendar, growing strong, standing tall, among all the shriveled up stems and stumps of last year's glorious blooming flowers. I was sure I could tell that the proud lavendar knows it is amazing.
Born and raised in upstate New York, traveled for a decade after college, lived in various places around the world, keeping a journal. Settled in Kyoto in 1980, moved to this mountainside above Lake Biwa in 1995. Started Pure Land Mountain in April 2002.
